A Happy Customer

We have just finished a cake for a lovely customer.  She requested we copy a cake that she had seen originally on the cake website Cotton and Crumbs.  We fell in love with the cake immediately and have enjoyed every second spent creating this cake and the accompanying cupcakes.  We love a Bride with great taste and thankfully all of our Brides have.

We teamed up with Lorna from Shine Tiaras www.shinetiaras.co.uk/ who created this beautiful piece of jewellery for the cake.

Another Wedding Fayre

We love a good wedding fayre we do and this one we attended in April was brilliant!

We attended a great wedding fayre held by Grace and Favour Wedding Fayre (www.graceandfavourweddingfayres.co.uk/) at Cathedral House in Huddersfield.

We had a great time and met up with some fantastic fellow exhibitors. Check out their Facebook page for the list of exhibitors and have a look at the day.

We met some excited Brides and Grooms planning for their special occasion. One of the things that we love so much about exhibiting at wedding fayres is the people that we meet; we love to hear people's ideas for their cake and discuss the themes of their weddings.  Some of the products and services we now offer were suggested by customers we met at a wedding fayre, including our vintage teacup hire.

Cake jewellery accessorizes a cake beautifully and becomes a gorgeous keepsake long after the last piece of cake has been eaten.  We will be blogging about this new service we will be offering with Shine Tiaras later on in the year...watch this space.

Right now we are heading in to wedding season with our first big wedding order of the year starting next week.  We are really excited to be back working on our wedding orders, we absolutely love creating a dream wedding cake for our Bride and Groom and being a part of their special day.  We will try to keep you updated on what we are working on and don't forget you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter too!

Wentworth Wedding Fair 2015

We had a fabulous time at Wentworth Wedding Fair yesterday and met lots of brides and grooms to be.  It was also lovely to meet some of our fellow exhibitors.  The sun was shining and as we unloaded our cakes it was like we were in the pages of Pride and Prejudice, Wentworth Woodhouse is such a beautiful setting,  Mr Darcy would not have been out of place.

Here are some of the pictures from our stand:

We decided to go for bright sunshiny colours this time and incorporated greens and yellows to mark the start of springtime.  Our pink ombre cupcakes added a splash of summer colour, which tied in with this season's pink and coral bridesmaid colours on show by the bridal boutiques.

We displayed one of our newest cakes, which was decorated in the style of a birdcage.  We used lace and edible gold paint to create a cake that offers something a little bit different.

We had such a lovely day meeting brides and grooms to be and hope that we get to work with some of them this year and next.  We had a fabulous time.

Good News!

Good news peeps.  We will be back at Wentworth Woodhouse for their wedding fair taking place on the 22nd March 2015.  We will be back in the marble room so come and visit us for a bit of cake and a chat.  We're very excited!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Actually the nightmare came after Christmas when our mixer broke down.  We were working on a cake and just as we had started the mixer broke and that was it...sheer panic and a mini meltdown.  It took everything not to throw ourselves on the floor and cry and scream a little.  All was well in the Kiss Me Cake kitchen though because we have our trusty back-up Ken!  Ken is an ancient mixer that we keep in the back of the storage room, he is very noisy and slightly slow in his old age, but for emergencies he is brilliant and on this day he absolutely saved us and the cake. Yippee!

The nightmare that we had before Christmas wasn't a bad one though, in fact it turned out to be one of our favourite cakes.  Making a Tim Burton themed cake was an absolute dream and we had so much fun with this one, the only drawback was all of the black icing we had to use...black icing is the worst.  It sticks to everything and colours your hands a yucky grey colour, we like to buy pre-coloured black icing, we often make our own and we absolutely dread it when we have to, it takes forever and colours all of your hands and fingers...it can take days to get rid of no matter how many times you wash your hands and scrub; but look how fabulous our cake turned out, totally worth the yucky grey hands.

Busy in the Bakery

Hello folks! We have completely been neglecting our blog, but that's just because we have been so busy!  As well as lots of Christmas cakes to get out in December we were inundated with Birthday cake orders and so we've been busy little bees creating some fab birthday cakes and preparing for our next wedding fair.

Those of you that know us will know that we run our business alongside our normal 9-5 jobs. Sometimes this can get a bit hectic and we've been known to work late in to the night after work to make sure we get our cakes out and looking beautiful.  It's hard work but we absolutely love it and have achieved a good balance in the way that we work.  We plan everything down to the last second so we know we will get the cake done and to a high standard too. After a long day at work it's actually very therapeutic to get in to the bakery and get working on our next order and it's so much fun too.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages...when we are not blogging we are definitely Face-booking and Tweeting and you can get regular updates from us there and see what's happening in our bakery.

Here are some pictures of what we've been up to.
